“Ahem”

A little breath of a poem for you :)

“Ahem”

Perched on the sidewalk
angled just so
waiting to be noticed
all glowy reds and orangey yellows
Look! I am holding sunshine
and letting it hold me
this breath of a moment
ours for the keeping.

Inspiration:
Out for a late afternoon walk, this stunning little leaf halted me in my tracks. Sun shining through leaves on trees is always lovely, but seeing it transform a leaf on the sidewalk is a wow moment. No longer safely attached to a tree, it is vulnerable in a hard place. Yet how persistently it speaks of courage and determination: out there at the mercy of dogs, feet, and the wind, shining away for all to see. Such tiny magnificence was worth noticing. I am glad I stopped.
