Art supplies arriving by mail feel a lot like Christmas to me. And in a recent box, there was something extra beyond some new watercolors: a Winsor & Newton invitation to paint a postcard for Art Mail! The postcards would support a good cause, so I joined in. These days, with international relationships becoming so fraught, it was encouraging to be part of something collectively positive and hopeful.

The good cause:

After the exhibitions, selected postcards will be auctioned in support of Hospital Rooms, Winsor & Newton’s charity partner. They create artist-designed, therapeutic environments to mental health wards across the UK!

Over 6,000 postcards have been painted by artists in more than 40 countries. Presented together, the postcards show how people across different places and backgrounds see the world around them and how a small artwork can connect one person and place to another.
