Nest

art

There are times I'll make something to represent an idea I want to remember or think more about, then keep it around as a visual reminder. Functionally, it’s sort of like a 3D post-it note. :) I wanted to share this one with you, curious if you might also find some meaning here - ?

I’ve had this nest on my desk for about a month now, and it’s been a gentle companion, quietly and persistently inviting me to rest and safety. As I continue to grieve, the idea of a protective nest feels very meaningful. Comfort comes from imagining it is woven from the love of people who care about me, of the ordinary rhythms of my days, and of the Holy One faithfully enfolding me with kindness.

It’s not a fancy nest - just common packing paper, cut and curled. (Maybe I’ll make another out of poetry sometime?) The little house is made from leftover pieces of the thank you wallet. The house is placed in the middle as a standing invitation to take up residence and live in that center. To know I can return there over and over again, whenever I get lost in the wilds of grief.  To be thankful for a place to call home.

Whatever loss you might be navigating, I wish for you just the kind of nest you need right now. (Or maybe it’s your turn to be a nest for someone else?) What would yours be made of?

…………..

And a blessing for you…

May your heart find healing in safe places and with safe people.

May wisdom be your strength as you navigate all that crosses your path.

May determined hope* in all that is good, right and true guide every step you take.

…………..

Go gently, my friends. Wishing safety for all your days.

*not the wishful thinking, fluffy kind
